The best festivals to go to in August
Its that time of year. Pimms at the ready (Or orange juice if your under 18), sunshine, and outdoor festivals.
I want to take a look at some of the best and most exciting ones coming up.
Line up – Justin Timberlake, The Killers, Ed Sheeran, Paulo Nutini, Example, Lily Allen, Chase and Status and more
When – 16th and 17th August
Why go – A really good and diverse line up. Justin Timberlakes live band is killer and exciting live and Ed Sheeran is one of the best selling artists of the year.
Line up – Blink 182, Jake Bugg, Disclosure and more
When – 22nd August
Why Go – A hugely popular and famous festival with a whole range of acts playing from Queens of there syne age and Paramore to You and me at six and blink 182

When – August 7th – 9th
Why go – Two-day surfing and skateboarding showcase with a solid line-up of hip hop, drum and bass, punk, rock and UK bass vibes, located on the cliff overlooking Watergate Bay. Snoop Dogg takes a big headline slot, as do beat-throwers Chase & Status, while Belgian DJ wizards 2ManyDJs should get the dancefloor moving. Totally gnarly, dude.
Bloodstock open air
Line up -M egadeth, Biohazard, Amon Amarth, Lacuna Coil, Down, Orphaned Land, Emperor, Aborted, Hatebreed, Prong Carcass, Saxon, Floatsam and Jetsam, Satan, Rotting Christ, Decapitated + more TBA.
WHen – August 9th – 11th
Why go – A good sized festival due to it being not too big and not too small. A great stop to spot up and coming metal bands or the next big thing.
In the woods
Line up – disclosed until you turn up
When – August 30th
Why go – It takes place in a secret woodland location (enchanted, of course) near London, revealed only to ticket holders. The line-up for this year’s festival won’t actually be announced before the festival – an innovative anti-hype manouevre – but past acts like Ghostpoet, Kwabs, Micachu and The Shapes, AlunaGeorge, Anna Calvi, Alt-J and more cutting-edge acts on the cusp of fame should give you an idea of what’s on offer.
