Minor pentatonic Licks – The London Guitar School (-Download here)
Great beginner pentatonic rock licks
Rock music and the pentatonic scale. The two go together like butter and bread.
Let’s take a look at some licks that will work well in many genres but especially the rock and blues genres. I’ve attached a pdf for you to download aswell as a video of the licks played fast and slow.
Enjoy!
Pentatonic lick 1 – A minor
This lick uses the A minor pentatonic scale position 1. Easy, ok!
In a nutshell, we are running down the pentatonic scale from the high E string to the root note on the D string if we solo over an A minor backing track.
Minor Pentatonic lick 2 – A minor
Again, a similar lick except we finish with a bend on the b string
Minor pentatonic lick 3 – E minor
This one might feel like astretch ifyou’ve not done something like it before. It uses E minor pentatonic position 1 and 2.
I use my pinky finger for that stretch to the 17th fret.
So there you go, three great licks to learn
Enjoy!
